Job Description:

Purpose of the job:

* provides detailed knowledge of competitors, therapeutic area and product, as well as technical and promotional standards expertise for the strategic and operational development, promotion and commercialisation of (COMPANY NAME) products within a therapeutic team of commercially focused professionals.
* interprets and adds value to scientific information by generating business relevant outputs which are promotionally defensible and tailored to the needs of customers.µ
* brings a key contribution to the scientific and ethical image of the company and provides competitive advantage through scientific servicing that outstands in quality that of competitors, in a customer-service directed way.. 
main accountabilities and related activities:

customer focus
  provides external (health care professionals) and internal (sales, marketing, medical, market access, regulatory, etc.) customers with state-of-the art, balanced, scientific information on az products, their competitors and related disease areas: 
* provides medical information with updated, standardized, ready to use, replies to frequently asked questions
* ensures second line medical advice for non-standard questions by providing direct, timely responses to external/internal medical information requests within agreed timelines, thereby optimising the current and future market potential of the az product portfolio (appropriate use in various pathologies, efficacy and tolerability data in specific indications, available clinical trial data, etc.)
* builds and maintains visibility and excellent long-term professional relationships with key opinion leaders in order to increase scientific knowledge, customer insight and competitive intelligence. 
strategic & tactical support

provides strategic scientific advice and tactical support for local marketing decisions and commercial brand strategy: 
* participates in the development and evaluation of the local operational brand strategy by ensuring input in customer insight and competitive intelligence
* provides valuable scientific input in strategic brand projects
* provides continuously relevant up-to-date product information and disease expertise to all cross-functional colleagues
* provides support to the therapeutic area leader in the roll-out of clinical az trials, aligned with marketing needs
* provides support to the therapeutic area leader for the development of risk management plans and scientific input in market access projects 
operational effectiveness

* provides an information resource at the leading edge of the t.a. by thorough follow-up of the published literature and other information sources (congresses, internal communications and meetings, ci information, etc.)
* attends scientific committees & events, and congresses to seek and disseminate new information on competitors and disease area treatment 
relationship building/ collaboration

* helps optimise the product commercialisation by providing advice/added value to outputs such as issue handling, competitor information, publication alerts, enquiry guidance and meeting reports; share best practices within and across therapeutic areas
* contributes to the generation of promotional material/claims and advises the product team on all aspects of promotional activity acceptability
* works in partnership with the market access and regulatory department, providing medical information and promotional standards expertise and input to high level documentation
* expert contribution to registration and reimbursement dossiers by provision of state-of-the-art, balanced, scientific information on az products, their competitors, related disease areas, and enquiries from the health authority and/or reimbursement commission/expert panels
* works on a consultancy basis with the drug safety department, providing medical information expertise and advice as needed

Candidate Requirements:

Qualification/experience 
* medical degree (medical doctor) with preferably a few years experience in a medical advisory role in the pharmaceutical industry 
specific skills 
* ability to seek and critically assess information, put it into context and evaluate its impact on the business
* strong business focus and strategic insight
* passion for customers
* influencing skills
* ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
* working knowledge and understanding of relevant legislation and codes of practice relating to promotional activities
* experience in and knowledge of pharmaceutical medical and marketing processes
* specific competencies in writing, editing, verbal communication and information technology
* knowledge of cns and anaesthesia therapeutic areas would be an asset, or the ability to acquire this knowledge rapidly
* fluent knowledge of french, dutch and english (verbal and written)
* medical integrity and ethical balance
