regional sales manager (austria, germany, switzerland)

the regional sales manager for germany, austria, and switzerland is responsible for generating sales and increasing revenue from both new and existing accounts in a defined territory.  the position focuses on the sale of thomson ip management services products and services such as state-of-the-art ip portfolio management software and supporting professional services, as well as patent annuity and trademark renewal payments.  new sales prospects and existing customers include the corporate law departments of large and mid-size companies, as well as law firms specializing in ip practice or large law firms with substantial ip departments within the firm.  there is a strong emphasis on the pharmaceutical industry and other businesses with substantial patent, trademark, and licensing portfolios.

responsibilities:
·        to meet sales targets and activity goals
·        to focus on new customer acquisition by selling thomson ip manager software and related products and services
·        to  sell and increase the revenue of thomson ip management services patent annuity and trademark renewal services
·        to up-sell existing customers and to increase total territory revenue

Skills/Experience: ·        Proven record of major sales and new business development at the corporate general counsel and law firm partner level
·        Written and spoken fluency in sophisticated, high-level business German and English
·        Demonstrated experience with and knowledge of intellectual property technology (e.g., software and databases)
·        Familiarity with the patent annuity and trademark renewal process
·        Well organized and disciplined regarding policy, procedures and standards
·        Ability to identify and pursue opportunities in both a long and shorter term sales cycle
·        Strong skills and demonstrated experience with presentations and negotiations
·        Ability to learn quickly complex subjects and technical applications
·        Collaborative skills to succeed in a team environment

Qualifications:
·        BS/BA preferably with a business, technical or international  concentration
·        Advanced degree desirable
·        Five plus years of large and complex sales experience with a demonstrated and consistent record of goal attainment
·        Expertise using MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, Powerpoint
·        Ability to travel extensively in Europe and US - expect 50% travel time
