Job Description:

As a Network Software Engineer Intern, you will work with the (COMPANY NAME) Shannon SW development team to deliver best-in-class software for (COMPANY NAME) Architecture (IA) based leading-edge embedded processors to drive the next generation of (COMPANY NAME) communication devices. You will be given a large amount of training and hands on experience that will develop your ability to deliver high quality SW and communicate as a professional engineer operating in a multi-disciplined and multicultural environment.  You will be based in Shannon, Ireland as a member of a talented team of software developers and will have the opportunity to collaborate in multisite projects

Candidate Requirements:

Essential Skills
Currently pursuing degree in Computer Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar discipline.
Experience in C or C  programming
Good understanding of operating systems internals, computer architecture and processor architecture.
Knowledge of packet processing and networking technologies, preferably Ethernet and TCP/IP.
Discipline and maturity to develop quality deliverables at all stages of the software development life cycle. 
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a multisite team.
Good problem solving skills coupled with a strong aptitude to learn and innovate.

Desirable Skills
Experience in programming for communications and related protocols.
Experience in programming (COMPANY NAME) Architecture x86 processors.
Knowledge of packet security protocols and cryptography.
Knowledge of Digital Signal Processing (DSP) technologies.
Experience in assembler programming.
Experience in programming for Real Time Operating Systems, preferably for Linux or Windows (WinCE or WinXP) or similar
