(COMPANY NAME) Research is responsible for next-generation fiber access solutions. The massive fiber access deployments around the world call not only for higher speeds and distances but also improved performance management.

Job description
As a research engineer, you will play an important role in researching and developing new systems and concepts for performance management of fiber access nodes. This includes an understanding of fiber transmission and properties of key optical components with an emphasis on how to improve fault and performance management for simple and user-friendly operations. You will also have close co-operation with other parts of (COMPANY NAME) Research as well as with the global product development units.

Work areas include: 
* Understanding the managed entities of fiber access networks.
* Researching and developing improved concepts for fault and performance management of fiber access, closely related to other fixed access technologies, such as copper and microwave.
* Developing demonstrators and research prototypes.
* Working on projects dedicated to performance management of high-speed access networks involving close collaboration with relevant research and product development projects

Candidate Requirements:

You should have a post-graduate qualification, such as a PhD or an MSc
You should also have excellent problem-solving skills and understanding of software development in C, C  , Java and similar.

Requirements
You should have a good knowledge of broadband networks, broadband access and fiber access.
You should be interested in the fast-growing fiber-access area.
To be successful in this role you must have a strong drive and the ability to take the initiative.
