Job Specification Job Type The role is a permanent role
Description The Job holder will be required to: Assist in the specification, design, implementation, unit testing and system testing of Server and Client software Work with the Lead Developer, Head of Engineering, Chief Architect and Head of QA to accurately and efficiently manage risks to the development project, avoid and resolve quality issues and to accurately and efficiently assess and report on progress

Location This role will be based in the UK in Velocix's Cambridge office
Candidate Requirements:
Necessary Technologies We are specifically interested in candidates who can possess the following: * C with an aptitude for high performance code, data structure and algorithm design and implementation * Linux * Desirable Technologies * Extra credit will be given to candidates who have some or all of the following: * MS Windows development experience * Python * Network systems development and internet core protocols * SQL * HTML/XML * MySQL * Apache * JavaScript Necessary Experience and Skills * For this role we are looking for somebody with around 1 year experience although we would also consider exceptional new graduates * We are expressly looking for candidates who: * Have a professional attitude and approach to the production of software * Possesses excellent technical skills as well as excellent problem solving skills. Desirable Skills Extra credit will be given to candidates who have worked in environments producing product quality software Person Specification We are looking for someone who: * Is a self starter * Is able to work as part of a team whilst taking ownership for parts of the team's output * Is willing to be guided and mentored by more experienced team members but still willing to contribute and make a case for alternatives when appropriate * Is able to work effectively under pressure * Is approachable * Is able and willing to help other team members when necessary * Takes professional pride in their work and the work of the team * Is appreciative of the need for a methodical approach to the production and maintenance of complex software products.
