jpm asset management in emea is creating an operations risk team within its operations area and is seeking to hire an operations risk manager. the job is a vp level role. applications are also welcome from associate candidates who are on track for reaching vp. the operations risk team will be responsible for coordinating efforts across operations to proactively prevent risks, mitigate identified exposures, and execute control-related activities. the operations area covers a number of separate functions - investment operations (trade support, derivatives processing, cash management, data management, fund accounting oversight, product on-boarding), retail operations (transfer agency), client account management, client services, performance attribution. the operations risk manager role will report to the head of technology & operations risk.
essential functions
the successful candidate will be expected to:
* develop & assist in the implementation of best practice standards for risk management within european operations * act as an independent advisor to operations staff on a day to day basis in conflict/issue resolution * combine day to day oversight and issue resolution with strategic input on corrective actions * provide detailed mis capturing, among others, material issues, errors, self-assessed issues and associated action plans/ risk acceptances * perform "deep dive" risk assessments of key operational processes on a periodic basis * participate in governance forums * participate in and provide relevant material for business risk committees * working in partnership with the product on-boarding team, review & approve material prepared as part of new risk approval processes, general change management or corporate initiatives and ensure that it reflects the risk posture across the operations environment * working in partnership with the vendor management team, establish & maintain a risk governance model for key service providers to the operations group in emea * maintain strong working relations with the jpmam risk management group and other control functions to ensure alignment with jpm policies and to provide full & timely visibility of risks & issues within operations
Candidate Requirements:
Qualifications & Experience Required * Solid experience as a risk analyst or senior role in an asset management business or operations function * Strong knowledge of asset management products and their risk management * Strong awareness of the importance of controls * Excellent organizational, teamwork and management skills * Strong ability to work independently and be influential in setting standards and direction * Proficient in Microsoft Office Productivity tools (e.g. Excel, Powerpoint) Additional Information This role is ideal for a keen team player with a strong personality, excellent communication skills, and a proven ability to play an influential role in managing change. Strong management skills, systems knowledge, ability to introduce process enhancements/innovations, and to successfully manage multiple internal client relationships whilst working to tight deadlines are a prerequisite for this role
