We are looking for an Accountant to join Thomson's London & Antwerp Service Center (LASC) located in London. The LASC is a key element of the company's strategy to leverage best practices, support future acquisitions and growth, and streamline processes and activities across the organization to become more effective and efficient. Description
The Accountant operates in a shared services environment to manage corporate accounting activities and processes for (COMPANY NAME) and its strategic business units. Through daily communication, coordination and liaison the accountant understands and supports the accounting and reporting requirements of both the corporation and assigned business partners. The accountant operates within a team of accountants to execute assigned responsibilities in a manner that is service oriented and consistent with established accounting policies, procedures and business requirements.
General Responsibilities * Responsible for the delivery of performance against team and overall agreed objectives * Within a large, global business environment, support the transition of financial processes from a strategic business unit to a central shared service. * Manage general ledger processes, including posting and the general ledger close process in a functionally structured organization * Support the development of financial metrics and month-end reporting * Coordinate the balance sheet planning and reporting processes * Collect, consolidate and disseminate accounting information and policies to key stakeholders * Prepare, review and approve transactional tax submissions for compliance to local regulations prior to submission * Review and evaluate current processes and tools to determine areas for potential improvement * Provide accounting subject matter expertise and guidance to broader finance initiatives and projects including the integration of new businesses * Maintain positive relationships with internal and external clients * Ensure deadlines are met taking into account global timeframes and hours Experience: * Newly qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA or qualified though appropriate work experience * Spanish Accounting experience essential * Expertise in accounting and financial reporting including GAAP/IFRS * Proficiency in collaborating and building relationships both internally and externally to meet the goals of the organization * Experience with integrated financial systems (SAP experience desirable) * Ability to influence/supervise/delegate/action results against pre-set objectives * Strong analytical and communication skills * Proactive, organized and well versed in issue resolution * Fluent in Spanish, essential * German language skills beneficial

* Newly qualified or qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA or qualified though appropriate work experience * Spanish Accounting experience essential
