Group Centre - B6 - Risk Manager (Legal Operations)

Job Description:

Overall Job Purpose

To coordinate and manage compliance with Group operational risk management policies and processes across Group Centre Legal to ensure an effective system of internal controls is maintained

Key Accountabilities & approximate time split (%)

Operational Management (40%)
* Manage and maintain risk assessment for Group Centre Legal, leveraging external market data, internal risk events and cumulative knowledge and experience of stakeholders
* Define and implement monitoring tools for application of the control framework and control processes
  * Provide management oversight to Group Centre Legal teams to ensure operational responsibilities are fulfilled effectively
* Manage and maintain process and control design effectiveness and operational effectiveness conformance testing, in accordance with group methodology
* Define and document actions to rectify control issues
* Manage and maintain remediation plans relating to risk events and/or control issues
* Develop and maintain specific policies and procedures to ensure Group Centre Legal are compliant with all areas of operational risk including:
  - Entity Level Controls
- Health and Safety
- Business Continuity Management
- Records Management

Provision of Management Information (25%)
* Coordinate awareness and communication in respect of the (COMPANY NAME) Operational Risk Policies, Compliance Assessment Process, tools and associated changes, leveraging risk management expertise
* Manage and produce regular risk management performance metrics for review by leadership team
* Manage the aggregation of multiple risk assessment scorecards and data feeds into a consolidated return, identifying key risks and potential 'hot spots', leading a virtual working team from across the function to confirm data has been correctly categorised, using tools and processes such as root cause analysis
* Manage and maintain the Operational Risk Register (currently OPUS) which captures key operational risks and Group Centre Legal plans to mitigate those risks
* Manage the semi-annual attestation regarding the effective discharge of responsibilities of Group Centre Legal and work with them to ensure supporting evidence is available for other attestations, such as Turnbull, to be signed by the group General Counsel

Legal Principal Risk Reporting (25%)
* Co-ordinate awareness and communication in respect of Legal Group Policies, including assessment results
* Coordinate and lead the Legal Principal Risk reporting ensuring that said reporting can be supported
* Manage and monitor quarterly risk reporting, ensuring it is quality assured, including challenge, and aggregated for submission to Group Risk
* Document and manage register of Dispensations and Waivers in respect of the Legal Principal Risk
* Manage and monitor remedial action plans and dispensations against non compliance with Legal Policies

Maintain Business Partner Relationships (10%)
* Regular liaison with (COMPANY NAME) Risk Function to keep up to date with developments around regulatory, statutory and Group policies, including new policies and procedures in relation to Risk Management
* Day to day contact point for business risk partners

* Good understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley, Basel II, Turnbull and COSO control requirements
